Meet your orthodontist
Dr. Shivani Dave
Dr. Shivani Dave, known by her patients as "Dr. D," brings a calm, supportive presence and a wealth of expertise to every appointment. A North Carolina native by way of New Jersey, Dr. D moved to Charlotte at 12 years old and grew up just down the road from Gastonia. It was her own braces journey as a teen that first sparked her passion for orthodontics, a passion that has stayed with her ever since.
She earned her undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill, went on to complete dental school at East Carolina University, and finished an intensive 3-year orthodontics residency at Columbia University. Dr. D is an ABO Board-Certified orthodontist, which means she has achieved the highest level of proficiency and recognition in the field.
Dr. D’s favorite part of her job is walking patients and their families through the consultation and treatment planning process. She’s known for her thoughtful communication and takes time to make sure you understand your options and feel confident in what comes next. Whether you're a teen starting braces, a parent navigating options, or an adult curious about Invisalign, her goal is to help you feel heard, comfortable, and excited about your smile journey.
Outside the office, Dr. D enjoys staying active with fitness classes, traveling with her husband, and spending quality time with friends and family. Her warm personality and deep-rooted dedication to patient care are what make her such an integral part of the Gaston Orthodontics experience.

Dr. Bhaven Sayania
Dr. Bhaven Sayania—known to patients as “Dr. B”—brings over eight years of experience, a calm confidence, and a genuine love for creating beautiful smiles to the Gaston Orthodontics family. A board-certified orthodontist, Dr. B combines thoughtful communication with meticulous clinical skill, ensuring every patient feels supported, understood, and excited about their treatment.
Dr. B’s path to orthodontics began with a strong academic foundation and a passion for science and helping others. He earned his undergraduate degree from Auburn University, followed by dental school and a three-year orthodontic residency at the University of Pennsylvania, one of the nation’s premier training programs. His commitment to excellence led him to achieve ABO Board Certification, representing the highest level of distinction in the specialty.
What Dr. B loves most about orthodontics is witnessing the moment a patient sees their new smile for the first time. Removing braces—revealing months or years of progress—is one of the most rewarding parts of his work, and he takes great pride in delivering that joy to patients of all ages. He believes in tailoring treatment to the needs of each individual and values the trust patients and parents place in him throughout the process.
Outside the office, Dr. B is a devoted dad who stays busy chasing after his two young children. When he’s not in full parent mode, he enjoys playing tennis, cycling, and traveling, finding balance and inspiration in exploring new places with his family.
